Flowers are blooming, the sun is shining, it finally feels like spring here in NYC. One of the most fun, easy, and inexpensive parts of your wardrobe to update as the weather gets wardrobe is your nails. There are so many fun spring nail trends to try in 2023. Any of these will instantly get you in the vibe for weekends outside on crisp spring days.

Whether you like square tip nails or an almond shape manicure, mini floral nail art is the best spring accessory. Pick up a set with micro floral accent nails you can mix and match with neutrals like dreamy pinks or classic French manicures. The best part about press on nail art is that you can easily change it out whenever you get tired of it. Abstract Swirl Manicures

Curvy swirl nail art is one of those spring nail trends that I think will continue into summer. This style looks cute in bright colors, retro pastels, and even in neutrals shades like white. You can opt for a monochromatic swirl nail art or choose a press on nail set with multicolor swirls. They really make a statement and feel like a modern twist on a French manicure with the curvy swirls layered over a neutral base.

 

Speckled Polish

I love a polish that adds interest with texture or shine to instantly change the mood. These speckled polishes from ILNP are so fun and easy. I wore it on vacation in Italy with sneakers during the day and then dressed it up with a block heeled sandal and statement earrings for dinner. The perfect Ikea desk for small office spaces

If you’re still not vibing with your work from home setup and need a refresh, I’ve got the best Ikea find for you. Meet the Ikea Lonmarp desk. It’s around $200, which is relatively affordable for a good desk, and comes in a neutral beige or dark blue green with simple chic gold knobs. I’m very into the classic lines and timeless style. It would look great in a living room or bedroom if your home office space is a small corner of another room in your house. It blends in with cozy home furniture where an industrial standing desk would stand out. Of course, if you can score it on Facebook marketplace for a lower price that would be an even better deal!

If you’re looking for the best desk for small office spaces and nooks, this one is only 22” deep so it will sit nicely in a narrow space. I like that there’s built in cable management cubbies to help hide away all of the clutter and bonus points for a drawer to stash your laptop in if your desk is in your living room and you don’t want to be reminded of your work to do list all weekend long.

My favorite thing about this desk is that it is very unique without being trendy. Your fiends might be surprised that you didn’t find this desk at a local thrift shop and refinish it. The soft curves hint at vintage writing desks without being too antique that it wouldn’t be at home in a stylish, modern home. Coastal Grandma Style Essentials for Summer 2023

Coastal Grandma style is a trend I can get behind, because it’s not really a trend at all. It’s all about timeless classics in natural tones and a comfortable fit. What’s not to love?

If you are still wondering… “what is coastal grandma style?” Think laid back basics in neutral tones. Linen button downs. Oversized menswear sweaters. Cable knits. Sun hats. Relaxed and comfortable denim. A practical shoe. Classic sunglasses.

My Coastal Grandmother, Nancy Meyers inspired aesthetic really came out last year on my trip to Puglia, Italy. It was very hot and we were driving along the coast to a new city or town almost every day. I wanted to pack low maintenance items that would still look cute a bit wrinkled and straight from a suitcase. Coastal grandma style essentials are easy to dress and up and down, throw them over a swimsuit with a baseball hat or add a statement earring for dinner with heels.

My packing list was oversized white button downs, natural linen pants and shorts, a jute tote, a neutral sandal, classic black sunglasses and a simple black swimsuit. I wore this combination of items on repeat all summer long and will probably do the same again this summer.

I couldn’t resist this white bucket hat on an end of season sale in Lecce at a textile shop called Uru. I came for their linen placements and cocktail napkins spotted at our hotel earlier in the trip and left with this cute and slightly coastal grandma style hat.

To round out my coastal grandma capsule wardrobe for summer, I just picked up a striped white and navy brooks brothers men’s sweater on sale last weekend for about $30. 100% cotton and a serious deal. I plan to wear it all summer long with linen shorts, over swimsuits, tucked into classic denim. I’ve been searching for the perfect oversized, lightweight, slightly nautical summer sweater for at least a year and I think this is it. I can’t find it on their site anymore unfortunately. Here’s a similar style striped navy and white sweater for under $20 on Amazon.

If you can’t imagine yourself wearing it in a few years, skip it. But if any of these pieces seem like the kind of summer wardrobe staples you will wear over and over on your warm weather adventures, I highly suggest making these coastal casual chic pieces a part of your summer style rotation.

Today I’m sharing with you a few affordable Amazon Home finds elegant enough for a French Chateau. I’ve recently gotten hooked on Chateau YouTube and I love searching for home decor inspired by elegant, historic estates. If you are asking, what is Chateau DIY YouTube? My friends, let me introduce you to your next favorite binge-watch. I was researching home renovations on YouTube and the internet presented me with Chateau DIY videos from Chateau Diaries. It opened my eyes to a world of people who buy chateaus, historic estates in France, typically for a relatively low price and share their experience renovating their chateaus via vlogs. When things are a bit stressful in my city life, I find myself imagining selling everything to purchase my own French chateau. Life as a chateau owner seems to be a lovely combination of thrifting for vintage silverware and crystal glasses at antique markets in France, cooking simple meals with local ingredients on vintage porcelain, setting tables with luxurious linens, and finding home decor treasures from centuries past in historic homes. I know it is actually a lot of hard work to own a chateau or historic home, but I love the idea of it.

Unfortunately, it’s not always practical leave behind our work and lives in big cities to move to a chateau in a rural French town. However, we can buy a few chateau-inspired items to remind us of that tranquil life in the countryside that might await us when the time is right! I wish I could source everything in my home from antique markets, but practically that can be difficult and it can take a long time to get a complete set of tableware. These chateau-inspired home finds are all great home essentials that can complement unique home finds from second hand shops and flea markets. They’re also affordable, which will allow you to splurge on some original items for your chateau-inspired home!

Luxe Tableware Finds from H&M Home

Continuing this best home finds series with my favorite tableware finds from H&M Home. With things slowly starting to return to normal in the US and the weather slowly warming up, I have been dreaming of entertaining this summer on our terrace. I haven’t purchased any fun, new tableware or glassware since we moved to our new home. Below are my four best H&M Home finds for entertaining right now. I think a cute set of champagne flutes will be perfect to toast to our new home and seeing old friends for the first time in a long time. I use a nook in our living room as a small office and this desk is narrow enough to work, but not so small that it doesn’t offer enough work space. The IKEA KOMPLEMENT is a super soft storage box in a nice light gray color that I like using on the top shelf in my closet. It transforms hard to reach areas into useful space. They’re lightweight which makes them easy to take off a high shelf and put right back. Less than $14 will get you two.

The IKEA GREJIG shoe rack is under $5 and great for adding more vertical storage space to your closets. We have two and like them so much we will definitely be getting more. I use them in the closet where we store cleaning supplies and the bedroom closet. I haven’t found this kind of rack at a more affordable price.

Before this social distancing era, I would also treat myself to a manicure or pedicure once in a while to keep my cuticles in check and enjoy a relaxing mani/pedi experience. I would describe my beauty and skincare routine as clean-ish. I’ll take any opportunity to try out a new clean beauty product that’s better for my skin and I restock regularly on retinol serums. I prefer beauty products that have cleaner ingredients, but I don’t compromise on how effective they are. Review: The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Foundation and Concealer Stick in cream

I’ve been wearing MERIT’S The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Foundation and Concealer Stick in Cream for almost three weeks now. I spent way too much timing choosing a shade online. Am I warm? Am I cool? Am I neutral?! How have I been wearing makeup for this long without being 100% sure… but honestly I didn't need to worry because the descriptions and images were very accurate. The Cream shade (fair with warm undertones) was a perfect match. I added my go-to Milk makeup matte cream bronzer for some light contouring and it blended in to create a really lovely finish. I don’t usually use a cream foundation and I liked that I could build up coverage only in areas that need it most. It easily covered darker spots from fading breakouts, a few new breakouts, and under eye circles. The Minimalist Complexion stick is great for the days I want more coverage than a tinted moisturizer (video calls, weekends) and the silky texture blends great with or without a brush. Always here for a product that solves multiple problems, so I’m all about a two-in-one foundation and concealer. This would be a great vacation makeup must-have in the future, because you only have to bring one product instead of two. I have been tossing this in my bag on the weekends because it is so compact and versatile.

The verdict: it’s a great complexion problem solver that’s easy to apply.

Review: Merit Shade Slick Tinted Lip Oil in au naturel

Glossy, hydrating, what’s not to like about a tinted lip oil? I have a hard time finding neutral lip colors that don’t look strange on my skin tone. The Au Naturel shade is amazing. A bit rosy with a natural shine. I have pretty sensitive skin and have had more bad reactions to lip products than I care to remember. I am happy to report that after wearing shade slick for about three weeks, this tinted lip oil has had the exact opposite effect. My lips are more hydrated than usual, which is pretty impressive in this dry winter air. I think the darker shades like Sangria would be so beautiful, too.

A few of the clean ingredients below that are the magic behind this hydrating lip oil:

Rosehip Oil and Omega 3, 6, and 9 Essential Fatty Acids: Support healthy barrier function and provide antioxidant benefits.

Shea Butter and Grapeseed Oil: Condition and soften lips.

Jojoba Oil: Creates a protective barrier to lock in moisture.

The verdict: leaves you with soft and hydrated lips in luxurious shades.

The Perfect Pink Puffer Jacket Under $100

If you’re like me and get bored of the same black winter coats every year, I’ve found the answer with this Amazon Essentials bright pink puffer coat. It is so cozy, it’s like a sleeping bag. The pockets have a fleece lining that is delightful on cold days. I don’t even need gloves. Because it is a longer, relaxed fit cocoon coat it’s warm enough and long enough to toss on over a top and jeans for a walk without extra layers. It’s an affordable option to add a colorful puffer jacket to your wardrobe, which I love. The quality is great. Layer it up with a sweater when the weather gets cold for extra coziness. Of course, you can size up for more of an oversize look with this coat and it will give you extra room for layers.

It’s also available in camel, black and grey if you love the style of this pink puffer jacket but prefer a neutral puffer jacket. This is one of the best under $100 Amazon finds to bring some fun color to your cold weather wardrobe. The pink is a great casual weekend style. You could easily dress this jacket up for the office for a more professional look if you need to for the office.
